AKIRA vs Sugar Dunkerton - SMASH 

Aaaaah. A slip back in time to my first ever trip to Japan. SMASH was an experience like no other. I learned so much among the talent I got to work with and AKIRA can hang with even the youngest of cats I’ve seen on the scene.

I’m pleased to hear that same SMASH spirit still lives on via their new venture Wrestling New Classic and I wish it the best of luck going forward. TAJIRI has a wonderful mind for this business and the roster has such energy behind it. I expect them to make waves once again.

I can’t stress enough how much of a learning experience this time was. Creating a connection with people who can’t speak your language. Using your eyes, movements, and expressions to create understanding. It’s changed how I approach the storytelling and pace of my matches from that day forward. 

So I proudly share with you one of the shining moments of my career which I hope to only get brighter and brighter. Korakuen Hall was everything I envisioned it’d be and I hope to see it once more before I hang up the Chuck’s. It felt strange to feel so at home in a land where no one understood a thing you said….but it wasn’t my place to ask why. Not when the feeling was that right. 

Funny how a single moment pushes you forward an entire lifetime.
